MALLOY JOINS CORRECTIONS OFFICERS IN CALLING FOR INVESTIGATION

Democratic Candidate for Governor Dan Malloy, Stamford's Mayor, today issued a statement urging Governor Rell to order a full and timely investigation of complaints made by Connecticut's Corrections Officers.  Responding to a letter delivered to the Governor and the Attorney General yesterday by the Presidents of the three Corrections Employees Union locals, alleging a pattern of unfair and abusive investigatory practices within the Department, Malloy said that "the grievances stated in the letter are serious and, if true, quite damning of Department of Corrections management."

"Corrections Officers walk one of the toughest beats in Connecticut," said Malloy. "These men and women put themselves in harm's way every day, in some of the toughest working conditions imaginable, and they deserve our full support. The fact that they have to worry about being unfairly targeted by their own Department is totally unacceptable.  I know that the Attorney General's office will treat these claims with the respect and urgency they demand, and I hope that the Governor's office will do the same."
